Position : Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer

Function as Plastic Injection molds Global SME, to proactively interface with Industrial Design, category management, product development engineering teams, quality teams and the assigned suppliers.
*Independently analyze problems, resolve issues and be able to drive corrective actions to ensure uninterrupted component supply.
*Participate in design review/ESI meetings with suppliers and develop and monitor continuous tooling/process improvement plans.
*Carry out tear down analysis to Identify cost reduction opportunities by using various techniques. Value engineering, Value Analysis, Competitive analysis, DFM, etc…
*Responsible for qualification of the tools before part qualification.
*Responsible for ensuring the Feasibility of Manufacturing of plastic mold
*Plastic Molding Process monitor & Lead for molding optimization as per supplier request.
*Drill wide & Drill Deep Analysis.
*Perform as Global Plastic SME for one stop Tooling Solutions, Experience in Process Optimization and trouble shooting in plastic component is must. Exposure in Scientific molding will be added as a advantage.
*Assure robust tooling quality and reliability of MSI assets in order to meet the requirement of high technology product.
*Schedule, monitor & control the project and Ensure timely delivery of Projects by getting input from PM, NPI and Product Quality Team.
*Assist supplier development engineering with onsite supplier tooling/process characterization (continuous improvement) efforts, supplier yield & capacity improvement.
*Monitor current process & verify tooling process change notifications (PCNs).
*Asses and monitor the quality of secondary operations such as Machining, assembly and decorating.
*Responsible for Supplier Quality Performance including onsite supplier tooling /process characterization (continuous improvement) efforts, supplier yield & capacity improvement.
*Responsible for performing periodic technical & Quality System assessments of existing and potential tooling/casting suppliers.
*Travel to supplier sites as part of program support and monitor supplier performance.
*Provide tool engineering support throughout the program life cycle.
*Assist in reducing tooling lead time and cost by assuring the integrity of the part database for manufacturability.
*Assuring the integrity of tooling by reviewing tool designs and enforcing Client’s tooling standards.
*Responsible for performing periodic technical assessments of existing and potential tooling/casting suppliers.
*Develop best in class process & Ensure continues improvements.
*Participate in core team meetings, Present reports, work on execution plans.
*Support Execution of cost reduction opportunities.
*Work with ODM /OEM /CM to Develop parts / Review and process tooling process change notifications (PCNs).
*BS degree in field of tool engineering or in Tool Engineering with 10 years of verifiable related tool engineering experience in the plastic injection industry.
*Technical Breadth/Depth: Demonstrates motivation to build deeper technical depth in area-of-expertise, and inform that knowledge base through understanding of associated areas
*Product Quality -Centric Focus: Ensures that experience informs both the approach to work, the quality demonstrated, and the endpoint for measuring success
*Good business application skills (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint)
*Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
*Good team player and Flexible to support US time zones.
*A complete knowledge of all machining techniques is a must and hands on tool building experience will be extremely helpful.
*Past experience in plastic injection part design is needed with Plastic injection processing knowledge.
*Flow simulation analysis experience needed and basics of secondary operations knowledge such as Machining, assembly, and decorating.
*Experience in Pro-Engineer or related 3-D design software and must be able to read interpret 2-D tooling designs, recognize the design quality, and drive improvements.
*Applicant must be able to interpret component specifications for the purpose of anticipating design or part discrepancies that will lead to part quality or tooling reliability problems.
*Engineering knowledge in DOE, FMEA, SPC, Process Characterization, GR&R, and GD&T is must.
*Sufficient command of the principles of statistics and quality assurance systems, and PPAP is preferred.
*Preferred to have an adequate exposure in program management & ISO/TS Quality Management Systems.
*Candidate must willing to work in Bayan Lepas, Penang.
A recognized degree in Computer Science / Information Systems or its equivalent
